Poetics is the most influential and dominant work in classic world on the area of literary criticism.
Although Aristotle's main subject in Poetics is tragedy, he raises deep and fundamental questions about the phenomenon of mimesis. In fact, he rectifies Platon's reflections upon this phenomenon, at the same time, he takes some of the key concepts of his book from his teacher and never denies his main ideas about the mimetic nature of art. Even Aristotle sometimes focuses on platonic concepts and espouses their undeniable influence on western art theories. They both believe that all branches of art move forward on the same road.
